OSU/LTC Life Sciences Building

About

Tuttle Construction teamed up with OSU Lima and Lima Tech College (which is now Rhodes State College) to create the Life Sciences building which is located on the Lima Campus. This Higher Education facility is like no other!  Both the interior and exterior were designed and built with a state-of-the-art science and mathematical flair. The three (3) stories in this building consist of 92,000 square feet. The frame is made of concrete and structural steel, while the exterior is made of limestone and beautiful brick. The state-of-the-art laboratories, green house, and physical science classrooms are each equipped with data-port hook ups for the students at each seat.

Facing Challenges

Despite being a state project, and having to collaborate with two owners  (OSU & Rhodes), two architects, and two other prime contractors, this project ran exceptionally smooth.  Other challenges included the loss of 35 working days due to extreme weather conditions, the steel arriving to the jobsite two weeks late, and finally, the door supplier went out of business after the doors had been ordered!

All these factors tremendously impacted the schedule, but each challenge was overcome, and the project was completed on time and under budget.
